Train Travel Life Hacks

Train travel can be an uncomfortable experience, with sitting in an uncomfortable seat and rarely working air conditioning. However, there are ways to make the trip as smooth and painless as possible. If you find trains irritating and anxious, then check out what you can do to me more comfortable.

Trainline

The Trainline app makes it quick and easy to find the best value ticket and book it. You can now use mobile tickets on 50% of routes in the UK,so you don’t need to worry about arriving early at the station and queuing to print out your ticket. It’s just another little bonus that makes travelling by train that bit smoother.

This saves you both time and stress, as the timetables are at your fingertips. That way you can easy your mind about when you have to be at the station, and you’ll also been up to date with delays.

Food and drink

Let’s be honest, even if you are in first class Train food is bad. Coffee is weak, sandwiches are small and bland. On top of this, it is all overpriced.

You can get your food before you get to the station, so that your money goes further and is often tastier. However, if you don’t have time then get something on the station. But the name if the game is to avoid having to get anything while on board.

Additionally, a top tip would be to bring Vit Stix. They are small and easily fit into a pocket or backpack, so fit perfectly for a train journey. Check out the Tropical Citrus flavour in the store.

To upgrade or not to upgrade?

A couple of tips here. Firstly, listen out for upgrades by the on board announcer once you get on. It can sometimes be very cheap, and if you are on a long journey the greater leg space and quiet can be money well spent. Additionally, the food and drink options can put your mind at easy and really help you settle into the trip.

Secondly, if you’re going to upgrade, do it early. Don’t upgrade if the hot food cart has run out of food! Even if it is a bargain, you don’t want to be spending money hoping for something to warm you up only to let you down.

Thirdly, when the train is super busy just chance your arm and get a seat in first class. Normally they will be opened up if the ails are packed anyway so you won’t get in any trouble. But it’s important to remember that you can get ahead of the game and get comfy.

We hope you have got some good ideas here, remember to follow us on social media so that you can stay up to date with Vit Stix and our other blogs!
